New video: Research Fellow Michael Towsey's Acoustic Seminar

On the 16th November 2011, QUT Research Fellow Michael Towsey gave a presentation on Acoustic indices for ecologists. Examples from the Samford Ecological Research Facility (SERF) were given during the presentation.

Dr. Michael Towsey has a BSc Hons in Biology (Auckland University, 1971), an MSc in agriculture (University of Western Australia, 1986) and a PhD in Computer Science (University of Queensland, 1998). Since obtaining his PhD, Michael has worked on a variety of projects using machine learning methods to solve biological problems. These have ranged from analysis of bird song to the analysis of milk yield in cow herds with some bioinformatics in between!
Michael is currently a Research Fellow in the Institute for Sustainable Resources at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, where he is working on the sampling of environmental acoustic data to facilitate estimates of species richness and environmental "health".
